With the approaching of the final period of the semester come the excitement and anticipation of the sem break that follows.
But as the break goes by day by day,
the hype burns out.
Fades into the tedious.
This is the first week of the sem break we get before the second semester starts this November.
I am a sophomore college student now,
and I have finished the first semester of this year.
I haven't seen my grades yet but hopefully they'd put a triumphant grin on my face when we meet.
I would like to look back on a very unforgettable experience.
As an IT student,
we study Java (the programming language).
We use NetBeans (the IDE).
Now for our finals,
we had to create a game.
It was certainly no joke at all.
Me and my cousin spent hours troubleshooting, researching, typing, debugging and deciphering the program so it would give our desired output. We started creating it about two weeks ago.
And it was almost a week ago when I woke up early in the morning,
about 8,
and started to make the final touches to our program.
The whole day was not enough.
I slept at 1 am the next day,
but it wasn't done yet.
So what's the big deal, then? What's the rush?
That was the day we were to defend / present the program before out professor.
The deadline.
Great.
So looking badly hideous and feeling groggy,
I woke up 5:30 that day,
and pray-thinkingly I took the initiative to finish the program myself.
I belived I would make it if I don't give up. I believed God would help.
So I continued,
despite the many aches my body was enduring at that moment due to my lack of sleep and the long, exhausting hours of working on the project.
And then at about 9:30,
I finished it.
I made it. Finally!
It worked and looked the way we wanted it to. We're set.
We had it defended and presented, and we earned such remarks as
"superb," "unexpected,"
and we were even called "miracle workers" for gaining victory over our mind-boggler.
In the end, I was glad I had to undergo such an experience.
Not only did it improve my programming skills but it extended my patience and endurance. Not to mention my determination.
Thanks to this resource: Java Programming Notes
It has been very very helpful.
