..and another beginning!
I just finished reading Paulo Coelho's The Zahir tonight, which is, of the books I own, I think, the one I finished reading the fastest. I started last Monday, so that makes about six days in all. Matter of fact, I read half of it today.
Well to be honest, it was not without effort that I understood parts, maybe most, of the novel. I don't even think I can come up with a concrete summary or review or explanation of what the story meant. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it, maybe got what it meant, was puzzled over a part or two, understood the plot, was mystified but was not surprised (given the author is Coelho), realized and rediscovered this and that about life, related to the main character, and, well, got myself into the story, as I usually, or maybe always, do.
Now two books lie in wait.
First is the one I bought as an advanced birthday gift for myself last January, entitled, 'Are You Smart Enough to Work at Google?' If you want to know the author, you can Google it yourself.
And the second one, which was a birthday gift for me from my brother, the book I guess most people know, Walter Isaacson's 'Steve Jobs.' This book, by the way, was a huge surprise. Ever since its release, I've been eyeing it on the shelves of my favorite bookstore, but I never had the budget to buy it. I can't express how much I wanted to buy the book. And then, on my birthday...
However, I am thinking of taking a break from reading (that is, devoting myself to an entire book for a time) so that I can focus my time and energy on the last few weeks of my time in college. Notes, lectures, and all the school stuff will have to be my subject of devotion, something I know I'll find useful in the days to come.
Thank you, God, for another story. Thank you for the beginnings that come with endings. Thank you, for even as I know You are letting me explore heights, depths, distances, and endless spaces through reading, I know as well that You will show me greater things - before my own eyes.
