A personal crisis...
Not everything is going smooth in my life right now. Most are rough. Time and time again I'd have to face the truth that life is tough.
I should have known better than to make rush decisions, I should have.
I should have known better than to jump into conclusions at the wrong time, I should have.
I should have been wiser.
The worst part is, everything is going out of control.
My time is hard to manage. So elusive, so scarce.
The people around me don't seem to bear with me. I don't know what's the problem with me. I don't know what I have to do. I don't know if there is something I can do.
School is a heavier burden by the moment. Projects are flooding right now, as in flooding. And they're not just simple assignments, though lucky if they are. But that's not the case, and these times, life doesn't go that way. Luck doesn't exist after all.
A business plan. It's not a brief document.
A web proposal. Though a little more brief than a business plan, it needs to be well-pondered, persuasive and professional in essence.
A system, a program. Must be fully functional and usable to our clients.
A website. It must contain all the standard contents of a functional website.
An online business. We must be able to sell items through the internet.
Reports, assignments and other projects add up to this. And even more may come. We still need to review for exams, especially the practical ones.
I once bumped into this quirky quotation which says "Taking up college is just like a stroll in the park - Jurassic Park," and it most apparently holds true so far.
A national crisis..
Well a hostage crisis just ended up a few hours ago. It was held up by a former police inspector, cpt. Rolando Mendoza.
Reports say the hostage lasted for 12 hours. It happened inside a bus in the middle of Quirino Grandstand, the bus being full of tourists who were from Hong Kong, or at least most of them were.
As I've heard, around four people died, but many were inside the bus who became victims of the said hostage crisis as well, but came out alive.
Because of this some say the Philippines is the worst country to go to. Regardless of this judgmental address, I feel for Mendoza. He ended up dead towards the end of the hostage crisis. I watched the news and I saw his father and his family say of him that he was a good man, and none of them ever thought he could commit such a crime. He was deemed as a good officer, a model police, awarded ten times during his years of service. He has served in the police for more than two and a half decades, and in his early years in service, he earned a small amount of just more or less 500 pesos, and in his later years of service, he was earning only an average of 19,000 a month. And yet he loved doing his duties.
Allegedly he was accused of being an accomplice to a certain crime, which led to his firing from position. His family said he was just accidentally associated into that crime. Because of it, not only was his job taken from him, he was also stripped off of all benefits including those after retirement, which he was already looking forward to, despite his many years of service. He had no source of income, his reputation had been tainted, and his plan of running for a certain position in the upcoming local elections has also been gone for good.
And so he had nowhere to go, he was so desperate to get his job back. To get his life back. Sadly, the chance for a new life has been taken from him as well.
The Philippines is in a state of total wreck right now. But with prayers, faith and trust in God, we'll certainly recover in time. We'll heal and we'll grow stronger than before. I HONESTLY DO HOPE SO.
UPDATE!(30 Aug. 2010)
...or more appropriately, correction:
There were 25 tourists in the bus, all from Hong Kong.
8 people died, plus Mendoza. 9 other were injured.
