It's still summer here in my country and lately, noone is really ever able to deny it even a tiny bit. In fact, people are declaring it every day, every hour, or even every minute, as I experience firsthand here at home.
I don't think we've had to endure such heat before as now. As much as I can recall, I don't remember any chances in the past in which temperatures rise so high especially during noon.
It's tough to do chores during those times, especially when you have to cook! You can't stand moving all around without an electric fan facing your direction, and even often switched to max wind strength. Earlier today when my cousin was cooking our lunch inside the kitchen, I must say being there was like keeping yourself in a life-size oven! I volunteered to bring the electric fan to face her position, and it appeared it was of great help. The heat, especially when it was being held stagnant in one area, was too much to handle. You'd really run out of water in your body if you aren't very watchful.
In a day, I don't know how much I was able to sweat ever since this whole summer has dragged on. And in proportion to that, I also have no idea how much the amount of water I drink has increased during the said period of time. I certainly am exceeding the recommended amount of eight glasses a day. I drink way beyond that count. I prefer ice cold water to contradict the heat outside by containing cold inside.
In addition to the excessive heat as if it weren't too much, our electric bill has skyrocketed during the past and current months. The bill for last month, April, rose to around 50% of our previous electric bills, and this month, it rose to nearly almost 100%! That's all you need to shock us! Imagine how much we could've spent on food if only it stayed on the usual amount. The one thing we could be thankful for right now is that in spite of the increase in water usage, we don't experience a price hike on our water bills. So far.
Well anyway, how can you not expect a rise in your electric bill if your appliances are often on to cool you down during the scorching hot summer afternoon? You just can't help but stay still and stand and let yourself cool down and dry whenever you experience a temperature high. Otherwise it'll get to your head and you'll experience a figurative rather than literal hot head.
Everyday, we're just so lucky enough whenever the sky is somewhat gray or cloudy or if it's windy. If not, better enjoy the heat. You get pissed and who loses?
